Fall Meeting 2018

 FOS members gathered on September 18 for a covered dish and business meeting where everyone has the opportunity to sign up for upcoming island events and to elect next year’s advisory board. Hyde Post, member-at-large was elected as chair and Phil Graitcer was elected to complete Hyde’s term as member-at-large. 

Adam MacKinnon gave an update on island projects and upcoming educational opportunities.   In addition to working on the island and assisting with events, FOS provides resources for the educational lab. The membership approved purchasing new equipment, which included an Ipad Pro, video frames, a microscope and demo tanks.  

Robin White, docent coordinator, invited everyone to consider becoming a docent for the upcoming holiday tours. There will be fewer tour dates but the Mansion is hoping the reduction in days will result in full tours, which means more docents will be needed. Docent training will be all day on November 9th.

 The holiday tours start on December and will run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The Tuesdays and Thursdays tour will include a tour of the south end of the island. Holiday mansion decorating will take place November 11-13, 2018.  Take down is scheduled for January 8-9, 2019.
