In less than three hours, a group of Friends, Boy Scouts and parents created a new extension to the  Nature Trail that runs left off the mansion road toward Nannygoat Beach on Sapelo. Nearly 20 volunteers gathered January 11 to clear brush and install trail markers and informational signage on the new trail extension, which leads to an ephemeral pond where you may encounter an assortment of frogs, ducks, night herons, an alligator and perhaps the celebrated two-toed amphiuma. The Friends turned out to support an Eagle Scout project led by Calan Mackinnon, son of Education Coordinator Adam Mackinnon.
